Bury Football Club

The ground was completely re-built in the 1990's with the last 'new' stand, the Cemetery End, completed in 1999. The new stands have vastly improved the overall look of the ground, whilst at the same time making it an all seated one. The Manchester Road End is a fair sized stand that is covered and has an electric scoreboard; however it does not run the full width of the pitch, one side ending with the edge of the penalty box. The other end, the Cemetery End, is a former terrace that has been demolished and replaced with a relatively new all seater stand.

Bolton Wanderers Football Club

Bolton began life back in 1874 as a church side - the Christ Church Sunday School - but broke away three years later when the vicar started to get antsy about them using church premises. And when the Football League was formed in 1888 they were one of the founder members. Bolton's history has not always been a successful one - with relegation to Division Four in 1987 counting as the low point in a poor spell that only ended about ten years ago. But they are finally finding their feet again and this will be their third consecutive season in the Premiership. Fast Fact: Bolton's all time leading goalscorer is Nat Lofthouse who scored 285 goals in 503 games.

Helmshore Mills Textile Museum - Rossendale

This is a full working museum with demonstrations of machinery, set in an original 18th century building with its magnificent water wheel, and two authentic working mill museum galleries. Visitors may experience the original (not reconstructed) textile mill with all of its real sounds and smells. The Higher Mill was built in 1789 by the Turner family with the purpose of finishing woollen cloths, and had an unbroken working family connection until its commercial closure in 1967.Other famous machines may be seen here including Spinning Mules, Hargreaves' Spinning Jenny, and many others. Talks on "The Lancashire Loom", the story of the Lancashire Textile Industry every half hour throughout the day, and a video "Hand to Wheel" at a quarter past and a quarter to the hour. There are attendants around who are happy to explain and demonstrate the working of the mills.

Museum of Science and Industry - Manchester

Based in one of the world's oldest railway stations, Liverpool Road Station, Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry contains 15 galleries which not only educate and inform, but also amaze and entertain. Manchester United Football Club

The most successful club of recent times was formed in a slightly less than glamorous manner - a club called Newton Heath being founded by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company in 1878. In 1902 they went bankrupt and Manchester United were born. United always enjoyed moderate success but in the Fifties and Sixties under Matt Busby they won five titles and a European Cup in an era that was only marred by the Munich Air Disaster which claimed much of the first-team squad. Fast Fact: The first five times United entered the European Cup, they never failed to get to the semi-final stage.

Rochdale Football Club

Rochdale Association Football Club are an English football club based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. They play their home matches at Spotland Stadium and are managed by Steve Parkin. They have an average attendance of around 2,500. Nicknamed 'The Dale', the team struggles to compete with more established football clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Oldham Athletic, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Bury. This is reflected by the fact that the club have spent the last 31 seasons in the Football League's bottom division, currently entitled League Two. They reached the League Cup final in 1962 (the only time a club from the bottom league division has reached the final of a major competition), where they lost to Norwich City.

Manchester City Football Club

The famous name of Manchester City has been in existence since 1894 - when their predecessors Ardwick went into bankruptcy. They then played at Hyde Road but in 1923 they would move to Maine Road, the scene of many triumphs and disappointments. City have won two titles - the second coming in 1968 in the midst of their most successful era, under Joe Mercer, when they won the FA Cup, League Cup and Cup-Winners' Cup as well as the championship in a glorious three-year period. Fast Fact: Bert Trautmann, a former World War Two German POW, led City to a 3-1 win against Birmingham City in the 1956 FA Cup Final and played with a broken neck! Wigan Golf Club - Wigan

This 18 hole park land course threads its way through magnificent mature trees and provides a challenge that is mastered by few. Originally constructed as a nine hole course in 1898 and later extended to eighteen holes Wigan Golf Course is a very pleasant parkland course which offers a good test of golf on fairly level terrain. The extended course was designed by Gaunt & Marnock and incorporates modern specification greens which provided excellent playing surfaces throughout the year. Whilst not extremely long by modern standards the 6008 yards have stood the test of time with the course record still a very respectable 67 against a par of 70.

Oldham Athletic Football Club

Boundary Park is the main sport stadium in Oldham, England, located to the north of the town. Oldham Athletic Association Football Club and Oldham Roughyeds R.L.F.C. play their home games there. Away Fans are situated in the Rochdale Road End (covered), there's has been a debate between Latics fans for many years whether or not to Move home fans into the Rochdale Road End. The Away End is without a doubt one of if not thee best away stand's for creating alot of noise. The Acoustics are Class. Boundary Park still has it's reputation of being a cold ground, and the whether in Oldham can be unpredictable to say the least.

Brookdale Golf club - Manchester

We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to you to one of the most picturesque Parkland golf courses in the North of England, within five miles of Manchester and both the M62 and M60 motorway links. The river Medlock features on six of the holes as it meanders through the course, making it both challenging and interesting. Although the course can be described as undulating, buggies are available for hire; and the views have to be seen to be believed. The 12th tee gives a spectacular view of virtually the whole of the course. To provide facilities for good golf always has been, and hopefully always will be, our primary objective.

Blackburn Rovers Football Club

Blackburn Rovers are a club that have known all about football's high and lows since their foundation in 1875. They quickly emerged as one of England's most powerful clubs and by 1928 Rovers had won the league championship twice and the FA Cup on six occasions. For the next sixty years, however, the trophy cabinet was bare and they remained outside of the top-flight - sinking to Division Three in 1971 - between 1966 and 1993. Not that promotion to the Premiership, via the play-offs, would herald an end to the club's topsy-turvy nature, though. Fast Fact : Blackburn won the Premiership in 1994 under Kenny Dalglish despite losing their last game of the season at Anfield.

Swinton Park Golf Club - Manchester

The high standard of quality presentation is evident in every inch of the 6519 yard golf course at Swinton Park Golf Club. Blackburn Rovers Football Club

Blackburn Rovers are a club that have known all about football's high and lows since their foundation in 1875. They quickly emerged as one of England's most powerful clubs and by 1928 Rovers had won the league championship twice and the FA Cup on six occasions. For the next sixty years, however, the trophy cabinet was bare and they remained outside of the top-flight - sinking to Division Three in 1971 - between 1966 and 1993. Not that promotion to the Premiership, via the play-offs, would herald an end to the club's topsy-turvy nature, though. Fast Fact : Blackburn won the Premiership in 1994 under Kenny Dalglish despite losing their last game of the season at Anfield.

Brookdale Golf club - Manchester

We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to you to one of the most picturesque Parkland golf courses in the North of England, within five miles of Manchester and both the M62 and M60 motorway links. The river Medlock features on six of the holes as it meanders through the course, making it both challenging and interesting. Although the course can be described as undulating, buggies are available for hire; and the views have to be seen to be believed. The 12th tee gives a spectacular view of virtually the whole of the course. To provide facilities for good golf always has been, and hopefully always will be, our primary objective.

Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club is an 18-hole park-land course located in the Mersey Valley, 4 miles south of Manchester City Centre. 14th Century Barlow Hall provides the setting for our Club-House which is fully equipped with a well-stocked bar and reasonably priced catering facilities. A challenging 18-hole parkland Course, set in the grounds of historic 14th Century Barlow Hall. The Par is 70 with a Standard Scratch Score of 69. This challenging parkland Course winds its way down narrow fairways and around the banks of the River Mersey. Located in such tranquil surroundings, it is difficult to believe that you are just 4 miles from Manchester City Centre and in close proximity to the M60 motorway network.

Wigan Golf Club - Wigan

This 18 hole park land course threads its way through magnificent mature trees and provides a challenge that is mastered by few. Originally constructed as a nine hole course in 1898 and later extended to eighteen holes Wigan Golf Course is a very pleasant parkland course which offers a good test of golf on fairly level terrain. The extended course was designed by Gaunt & Marnock and incorporates modern specification greens which provided excellent playing surfaces throughout the year. Whilst not extremely long by modern standards the 6008 yards have stood the test of time with the course record still a very respectable 67 against a par of 70.

Bury Football Club

The ground was completely re-built in the 1990's with the last 'new' stand, the Cemetery End, completed in 1999. The new stands have vastly improved the overall look of the ground, whilst at the same time making it an all seated one. The Manchester Road End is a fair sized stand that is covered and has an electric scoreboard; however it does not run the full width of the pitch, one side ending with the edge of the penalty box. The other end, the Cemetery End, is a former terrace that has been demolished and replaced with a relatively new all seater stand.

A visit to Bolton Old Links provides a memorable experience - Eighteen uniquely challenging holes, superb conditioning, panoramic views, a traditional clubhouse, real ale and high quality catering. Bolton Wanderers Football Club

Bolton began life back in 1874 as a church side - the Christ Church Sunday School - but broke away three years later when the vicar started to get antsy about them using church premises. And when the Football League was formed in 1888 they were one of the founder members. Bolton's history has not always been a successful one - with relegation to Division Four in 1987 counting as the low point in a poor spell that only ended about ten years ago. But they are finally finding their feet again and this will be their third consecutive season in the Premiership. Fast Fact: Bolton's all time leading goalscorer is Nat Lofthouse who scored 285 goals in 503 games.

Helmshore Mills Textile Museum - Rossendale

This is a full working museum with demonstrations of machinery, set in an original 18th century building with its magnificent water wheel, and two authentic working mill museum galleries. Visitors may experience the original (not reconstructed) textile mill with all of its real sounds and smells. The Higher Mill was built in 1789 by the Turner family with the purpose of finishing woollen cloths, and had an unbroken working family connection until its commercial closure in 1967.Other famous machines may be seen here including Spinning Mules, Hargreaves' Spinning Jenny, and many others. Talks on "The Lancashire Loom", the story of the Lancashire Textile Industry every half hour throughout the day, and a video "Hand to Wheel" at a quarter past and a quarter to the hour. There are attendants around who are happy to explain and demonstrate the working of the mills.
